10 Craft Ideas To Do With Garfield Coloring Pages

Garfield is that famous orange cat who means business and likes to run the show.

Here are some terrific craft ideas to prevent those finished coloring pages from gathering dust.

1. Garfield Hates Mondays

All children will love making this cute “I Hate Monday” sign from a Garfield coloring page.

The youngster should begin with a yellow piece of poster board. Orange and red pom-poms can be used to make a 3D frame around its edges.

Once Garfield is colored and cut out, he can be glued to the poster’s center.

A text bubble can be drawn with a black marker, and inside the words, “I Hate Mondays” written with red puffy paint. This adorable sign can be hung anywhere.

2. Pin the Tail on Garfield

To make this cute homemade game, color and cut out Garfield and separate the tail from the body.

The body should be glued to a piece of square corkboard with craft glue.

The tail should then be glued to thick cardboard or sealed in contact paper.

When Garfield is hung up, children can use push pins or thumbtacks to try to pin Garfield’s tail to his body while blindfolded!

3. Make a Garfield Sun Catcher

For this fun craft, have the youngster color and cut out Garfield and fold the cutout in half.

Using scissors, the child should cut a simple design and then unfold the cutout.

Punch a hole at the top for a piece of yarn or thread, and when the cutout is hung up, the light will show through the design for a fun, suncatcher-style ornament.

4. A Comical Craft

This funny craft is easy, and it’s great for a laugh. Once Garfield is colored, he should be cut out and sealed in contact paper.

Next, using orange construction paper, the youngsters should fashion a long paper chain.

This can be stapled to the cutout to create a hilariously long tail. To make it extra fun, add large, funny wiggle eyes to Garfield’s face.

When this hilarious craft is hung up, it will get lots of laughs!

5. An Original Garfield Storybook

Begin this craft by stapling together several pieces of construction paper, on which the youngster can write fun facts about Garfield.

Then, the child can write a simple but original short story about the famous cat using whatever theme he or she chooses.

When complete, two Garfield coloring pages can serve as the front and back covers.

With a marker or puffy paint, the youngster can write the title for the story on the front cover above the cutout and staple the pages together to complete this adorable book!

6. Decorate a Cat Bowl

Garfield coloring pages are perfect for decorating a cat’s food dish or litter box cover.

One or more pages can be used, depending on the item the child wants to decorate, and the cutouts should be glued to the outer surface with rubber cement or invisible glue.

Acrylic spray will seal the artwork in, and the items should last a long time!

Don’t forget: Garfield coloring page cutouts can be used to decorate any pet bowls, not just the cats!

7. Garfield Makes the News!

Start this inventive craft by having the child tear an old piece of newspaper into ragged sections and glue them to a piece of poster board randomly to create a fun, textured surface.

Next, a “headline” should be written on an index card about Garfield. This can be anything the child chooses, such as “Garfield Caught Stealing Fish” or any comical line.

Glue the card to the top of the poster board, and place the coloring page cutout of Garfield underneath. This comical poster can be displayed anywhere!

8. Garfield Soup Mug

Begin this craft with an ordinary soup mug from a discount store. The youngster should color several Garfield characters and cut them from the pages.

These can be used to create a Garfield-themed soup mug by pasting them to the sides of the mug with invisible glue.

The youngster can write his or her initials and add some glitter or craft gems in between the cutouts to make it extra fancy.

A coat or two of acrylic spray will keep it looking nice for a long time. Just don’t run it through the dishwasher!

9. Garfield Flyswatter

Everyone knows that noise irritates Garfield, so pesky flies will certainly get him in a bad mood. This is why Garfield is perfect for decorating a flyswatter.

Using any ordinary plastic flyswatter, have the youngster cut Garfield from the coloring page and glue him to the flyswatter with craft glue.

The entire mesh area should be sealed in contact paper.

Orange yarn can be tied to the handle to hang it in a kitchen or pantry. With this fun flyswatter around, our youngster may be motivated to help you swat flies!

10. Fancy 3D Bank

If your child likes to save coins in a jar, why not turn it into a fancy Garfield bank?

A Garfield page featuring the cat’s face is perfect for this craft. Once Garfield is colored and cut out, he should be glued to the jar’s surface with invisible glue.

Black pipe cleaners can be used to make whiskers, and large wiggle eyes can be added to the face. Triangles cut from pink felt are perfect for embellishing his ears.

Black puffy paint can be used to make eyelashes, and your youngster has an adorable Garfield bank!
